Tax & Accounting for Expats in Loreto

Loreto Bay and the northern BCS coast. Tax registration, filings, and cross-border planning for US and Canadian property owners and residents.

US Citizens: You May Exclude Up to $132,900 of Income From US Tax

The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) lets qualifying US citizens living abroad exclude up to $132,900 per person (2026) of foreign earned income from US federal tax. If you and your spouse both qualify, that's over $265,000 — tax-free on your US return.

But here's what most expats miss: the FEIE only covers your US taxes. Mexico taxes income earned in Mexico separately, under Mexican rules. The two systems must be planned together — the exclusion on one side, the foreign tax credit and local registration on the other.

We are the Mexican side of that equation, and we speak enough US-tax to coordinate directly with your US CPA.
